This labor day we spent at Lake Tahoe camping- Emerald Bay to be exact. We thought it would be a nice rest from our daily "laboring." It did not quite turn out to be a "rest" as we prepared all of our food in dutch ovens and did the dishes for each meal- complete with prepping our own dish water over the flames, etc. We also decided to take 2 hikes. One a mile and a half straight up the side of the mountain(which I loved- don't get me wrong- but it was quite strenuous), and another kid-friendly hike, but when your butt and calves are sore any upward movement feels like a difficult task.
Our camp site was in a perfect location- just a short walk to a beach, as well as a beautiful view of the bay. I was overly concerned (so Dave says)about not getting even one scrap of food on the ground so that the bears would not hunt us in our slumber. He assured me they wouldn't- however I seemed to wake each half hour through out the night mistaking the breeze for a bear scratching at our tent.
It was such a great time, and nice to be outdoors. Camping is one of our favorite things to and yet we have only made it twice since we have been married. Hope you enjoy the photos!!!
