525 Oak Ave

We have a family tradition of going to CA to my grandparents home for the Freeman Family Easter Egg Hunt every year since I can remember. There have only been a few intermittent years where we have had to do Easter at our own homes due to weather, illness or other un-for-seen events. I can remember being a little girl filled with excitement as I searched the "friendly forrest" for my basket and pink eggs that the Easter Bunny hid in the bushes. You see, Grandma's house is a magical place where the gazillion trees and shrubs in the front yard made what seemed to be a HUGE forrest- which was nicknamed "the friendly forrest." Over the years the forrest has shrunken a bit- or rather- it is that we have grown bigger and taller, and now the HUGE forrest is a nice cluster of bushes and trees that shade the yard and add beauty to the landscape. It is funny how perceptions change as we get older and experience more. One thing that has stayed the same however, is the feeling that you get when you step out of the car onto 525 Oak Avenue and breathe in a thick whiff of oxygenated air, that just smells of foliage. There is no better feeling in the world than walking up the sidewalk to Grandma's house and being met with a big smile and a hug and knowing deep down inside that you are completely loved and are "at home." You know the next few days will be full of great home cooking, puzzles and Rack-o, soft cozy beds, and LOTS of laughter. There is no place like Grandma's house!!! Picnicing before the easter egg hunt Grandma handing out cookies Lounging around in the sun The Easter Bunny came to see Dave Kids playing in the friendly forrest The Easter Bunny came to see Grandma too
